"In the last couple of years, we’ve done paid ad courses using four different methods (and lost a fair bit of money in the process) and spent a ton on Amazon and FB ads, but working with the one-on-one has by far been our most successful and, more importantly, most profitable endeavor. I like to be super transparent with numbers, because a lot of people say “we did great”, but you have no idea what great is to them.
So here goes. In 2022, we did 65K in direct sales. For 2023, we hit 300K. Goal for 2024 is 7-figures, and even without scaling our ad spend, we’re on track for 500K. But what really matters is how much we've earned versus how much we've spent.
Last year, we moved 100% of our significant ad budget to go only to the Jillian Dodd Shop. During fourth quarter when ad costs are at their highest our overall ROAS across all income averaged 2.58. For January, we were at 2.7, our highest ever!
As a comparison, in 2020, when I spent 800K on AMG, AMS, and FB ads directed to Amazon, ROAS was 1.82.
Needless to say, we are thrilled to be focusing on our direct store, creating deeper relationships with our readers, and we can’t thank them enough for continuing to help us through this process."
